trois familia: french & mexican heaven

Kate ParrishComment

ah, trois familia. i'm still thinking about you. this french + mexican brunch spot in silver lake is something i will crave on a weekly basis. just writing this post was hard for me, knowing i can't get those potato tacos again unless i go all the way to LA. reviewers were actually pretty spot on when calling this spot "high end hangover food" – yet i didn't leave with that gross "i ate too much" feeling. we spent our final morning in LA at these white picnic tables, trying what felt like the entire menu. what you'll see in the photos below:

– avocado toast [mashed with banana and served on warm homemade bread]
– hash brown chilaquiles
– potato tacos [my favorite]
– chicken milanesa
– churro french toast [dear god]
– galette crepe
– avocado citrus salad

the best part for me? aside from the chicken, everything we ordered was vegetarian friendly. next time i would love to try the beet tartare and the grits. be prepared to wait for a seat, but i promise you it will all be worth it. bon appétit!

our road trip was perfectly capped off with a few days in LA visiting our dear friends bron & alex. every trip with these two turns into a full blown food and drink extravaganza, and this weekend was nothing short of that. after some much needed pool & catch up time, our weekend was full of eating, drinking, hiking, hitting tennis balls, laughing, exploring and so much more. some of our favorite moments include:

– wandering grand central market and stopping for lunch at wexler's deli
– snacking at moruno before dinner in venice at leona
– breakfast at the best place of all time, sqirl
– taking johnathan gold's advice on a oaxacan dinner in korea town [we waited 2 hours for our table, FYI]
pastries and hiking in pacific palisades followed by lunch at the beverly hills hotel
– a day in malibu, browsing the country mart and grabbing happy hour/dinner on the water at malibu farm

thank you, B & A, for another wonderful visit to your new home!

we recently flew south to celebrate independence day with bron + alex. while we visit LA often, it was so fun to explore a new side of the city with these two. they gave us the royal treatment of course and we left feeling full, tan and relaxed. some highlights include {but are not limited to}

FUN: rambo, back yard pool parties, an unforgettable day on the arrivederci IV – complete with HATS AND SHIRTS!, 20 something bottles of angelina's rose, a backyard celebration full of live music, treats, dancing, and pina coladas followed by amazing fireworks.

FOOD: the most delicious sushi ever at SUGARFISH, the most unique breakfast ever at sqirl, the most delicious shrimp ever from son of a gun, and the most delicious pasta, wine, everything ever at bestia. thank you B + A for such a perfect weekend.
